Muslim College of Education was established at Thiruvithancode in 2007 by the Muslim Educational Society (MES), which has served the educational needs of Kanniyakumari district since 1981. The college began with the B.Ed. programme and introduced the M.Ed. programme in 2008.
The institution was established with the approval of the Government of Tamil Nadu and recognition of the National Council for Teacher Education. It is affiliated to Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University. Its work brings together teacher preparation, research, value education and community outreach.
From its beginning, the college has sought to widen access to teacher education and prepare knowledgeable, responsible and socially committed educators.
